Blog #2: Cooking

Misaki Yoshioka

Good evening! How was your day?

Today I want to introduce what I cooked recently. To tell you the truth, I cannot cook. I am the worst cooker in the world. However, one morning, I was craving for French toast. So I looked up in the internet for the recipe and made it. It took an hour to make it but it was worth it.

Doesn't it look yummy?
It was yummy:)

Making a French toast is very easy.
All you need is bread, egg, milk, sugar, and butter.

First, you break the egg, mix it, and put the egg in a flat plate.
Second, you pour the milk in a flat plate.
Add one spoon of sugar in each plate and mix it until it dissolves.
Cut the bread in half and place it in the plate with milk until it soaks all the milk.
Then do the same with the plate with the eggs.
Lastly, roast the bread on the pan.

I want to ask everyone a question- do you cook? If so, what`s your favorite dish?

Have a nice weekend!

  1. Misaki,
Good for you - you have entered the culinary world. When you write about cooking, you should say "in a pan" first, then "in the pan" thereafter.
You put the egg and milk in a shallow dish, don't you?
And you cook it in the frying pan (not roast). Don't forget to turn it over so that it gets cooked on both sides.
I don't eat sweet French toast so I don't put sugar on it. I ate it for dinner last night, in fact, and I put some ketchup on it and had some panfried potatoes, meat and vegetable soup with it. Salad too. A complete meal.

What will you make next? Can you make other egg dishes - scrambled eggs? They are easy and good to eat with toast or rice.
How about noodles - can you cook soba? Kake soba is really easy and good.
And you can always stir fry vegetables, tofu, and meat together adding something for taste like your favourite salad dressing and eat that with noodles or rice.
Finally, spaghetti is easy if you use a retort pack of sauce and add sauted vegetables and meat to the sauce to make it more interesting and tasty.
And finally, the secret to all my cooking (from my point of view), is spice - I shake red pepper flakes on everything!

If you like sweets, I can tell you how to make brownies - they are so simple. If you can make French toast, you can make brownies - and it won't take you an hour.

What do you think of all my suggestions?

  3. It looks delicious!
I've started going on a cooking class called ABC studio from this spring, but I only gone there about 3 times for being busy.
Last time, I made Subuta (vinegared meat) but I can't cook without a recipe.
    I really should cook!

Thank you for telling us the recipe which was easy to understand.
I want to make and eat French toasts too.

  4. Ms. MacGregor,

I had a hard time explain the steps of the recipe because I wasn’t familiar with the words related to cooking. Thank you for correcting my mistakes.
I haven’t experienced French toast that is not sweet so I will try it later.

I have cooked scrambled egg before. However, I haven’t tried noodles or spaghettis. I will definitely try it out! I was very surprised to your secret of your cooking. I am not a big fan of spicy food but I will keep that in mind the next time I cook something.

I love brownies but I haven’t made them before. It will be nice if you teach me the steps.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. It made me want to try cooking in a lot of genres. It might take a long time to try them all out but I will challenge it.

Wow! You’re already an awesome cook.
I am planning to go to a cooking school someday so I might ask you more about ABC cooking studio in the near future.
Please try making the French toast on your free time!

  7. How to make brownies, by Ms. MacGregor
Melt 1/2 cup of butter with 1/4 cup of cocoa in the microwave or on the gas burner. In a different bowl (a mixing bowl), beat 2 eggs. Add 1 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans or no nuts if you don't want nuts), and a pinch of salt. Now pour the melted butter and cocoa into this bowl and stir everything together till it is yummy brown and smelling very good. Next, pour it into a baking pan and bake at 180 degrees for about 15-20 minutes. Check it once in a while to see if it is done by sticking a toothpick in the centre. If the toothpick is nearly clean when you take it out, the brownies are done!
These are crazy easy to make so I hope you will give them a try and enjoy eating them!
